The statue was the focus of the famed film noir starring Humphrey Bogart.

The owner of the restaurant has put up a $25,000 reward because a cast member's autograph is on the bird.

Also swiped were copies of the novel from which the film was adapted. The book was authored by Dashiell Hammett and published in 1930. Featured in the work is detective Sam Spade, who ate at an eatery named John's Grill, which incidentally is the restaurant currently without its Maltese Falcon.

Technorati tags: maltese falcon, film, movies, old movies, classic movies, classic movie, classic film, classic films, humphrey bogart, san francisco, John's GrillNathania Johnsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11259738748700987560noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3574841162663482419.post-35846157457875395112007-02-12T20:16:00.000-05:002007-02-12T21:34:26.111-05:00The Best of Katharine HepburnAlice Adams (1935) Hepburn plays the daughter of a working class man. She has high hopes for climbing the social ladder, but can't afford to impress properly. But will a well-to-do suitor (played by Fred MacMurray) see past her superficial aspirations?

Holiday (1938) In a complete role reversal, Hepburn is one of three children in an extremely wealthy New York family. She falls for her sister's fiance, a regular Joe who's interested in finding his own way instead of holding down a desk job.

Bringing Up Baby (1938) Cary Grant is a paleontologist looking for a bone. Katharine Hepburn is smitten with Grant (who happens to be engaged). She ends up with a leopard that was supposed to be shipped to her aunt. Meanwhile, a terrier hides the bone Grant is looking for. A classic screwball comedy.

The Philadelphia Story (1940) Quite possibly her most famous role, Katharine again is a wealthy woman who finds herself attracting quite a bit of attention prior to her impending nuptials. Jimmy Stewart, a tabloid photographer, and Cary Grant, her first husband, are among the attention givers. Will the events surrounding an intoxicated evening the night before her wedding day threaten to call the whole thing off?

Adam's Rib (1949) A husband and wife, who are also both lawyers, end up representing opposing parties in a case where a woman is accused of attempting to kill her husband.

The African Queen (1951) Hepburn plays a missionary who makes an unlikely pairing with crass boat captain Humphrey Bogar. During World War I, the two find themselves navigating German-controlled waters in hopes of reaching safety.

Desk Set (1957) Technology threatens the jobs of the ladies in the research department. Spencer Tracy joins her once again.

Technorati tags: film, movies, <a href=" Here are some lines that classic film aficionados can look forward to:

Jackie Rogers
Saturday, February 3 at 5 p.m.

"My Fall 2007 collection, After the Deluge, reflects the simplicity of the Bauhaus period in the late 1920's and early 1930's. Because my clothes are cut on the bias and off-grain, they exude sexuality and sensuality.

Venexiana by Kati Stern
Saturday, February 3 at 9 p.m.

"The collection exudes the romantic elegance of old-world Hollywood glamour."

Tibi
Tuesday, February 6 at 9 a.m.

"Tibi's Fall 2007 collection is French-inspired, with heavy references to twenties Paris—a modern take on slim skirts, drop-waist dresses, and boxy jackets. The look is elegant and overly flirty juxtaposed with a relaxed and tomboy attitude…think Amelia Earhart playing dress-up."

Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti
Tuesday, February 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.

"I'm reinterpreting the glamour of the fifties in a very youthful manner appropriate for the modern day."

Jayson Brundson
Thursday, February 8 at 9 p.m.

"The twenties and thirties glamour. Art Deco and Tamara de Lempicka's cubist paintings."

Evisu
Friday, February 9 at 12 p.m.

"We've focused on two golden eras of the twentieth century: Charleston flapper fashion for women and the optimistic late 1950's for the men's collection."
frrrrrrrr
Chris Benz
Monday, February 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.

"The collection is inspired by twenties reckless youth and the ageless tomboys Elettra Wiedemann, Loulou de la Falaise, and Patti Smith."

Pegah Anvarian
Tuesday, February 6 at 7 p.m.

"I rethought the image of the modern femme fatale, exploring and juxtaposing both her lighter and darker sides. The designs emanate a distinct radiance and a thoughtful amalgamation of texture, color, function, and form."

Heatherette
Tuesday, February 6 at 9 p.m.

"Dorothy and The Wizard of Oz and Pink Floyd."

Malan Breton
Friday, February 9 at 9 a.m.

"Gaudí meets Elizabeth Taylor in a Gershwin musical circa 1957."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Technorati tags: fashionNathania Johnsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11259738748700987560noreply@blogger.com0
