Reuters is reporting that a replica of the Maltese Falcon has been stolen from a San Francisco restaurant. The statue was the focus of the famed film noir starring Humphrey Bogart.
The owner of the restaurant has put up a $25,000 reward because a cast member's autograph is on the bird.
Also swiped were copies of the novel from which the film was adapted. The book was authored by Dashiell Hammett and published in 1930. Featured in the work is detective Sam Spade, who ate at an eatery named John's Grill, which incidentally is the restaurant currently without its Maltese Falcon.
