It's an annual thing. Every year, just before the broadcast of the Academy Awards, TCM celebrates vintage Oscar winners and nominees with their 31 Days of Oscar.
Today, the 2007 flashbacks begin with three nominees for Best Director.
8pm The High and the Mighty (1954) is an airplane movie starring John Wayne, Claire Trevor, and Laraine Day. Directed by William A. Wellman
10:30pm The 1966 Western flick, The Professionals, features film greats Burt Lancaster and Jack Palance. Directed by Richard Brooks.
12:30 am Set your DVR for the axiomatically-titledDetective Story(1951), starring Kirk Douglas and Eleanor Parker. Directed by William Wyler.
